CHE COS’E’ IL CORSO
Il corso prevede 2 incontri settimanali ed è dedicato a tutti coloro che
provenendo da esperienze teatrali desiderano:

– avere un approccio creativo con la recitazione cinematografica
– ottenere una maggiore autonomia per la preparazione di audizioni e nel
confronto con differenti metodologie di regia.

Nel corso si affronteranno vari aspetti del processo recitativo: da una
parte l’ attore e la sua preparazione e dall’altra il testo e il
personaggio.
Attraverso l’utilizzo di testi sia televisivi che cinematografici vedremo
come possa essere differente l’approccio al personaggio a seconda del
linguaggio utilizzato, (teatro, cinema, televisione)

Patrizia T. Hartman
Diplomata, come attrice, all’Accademia Nazionale di Arte Drammatica
“Silvio d’Amico� nel 1988, si è specializzata al Teatro Studio di Anatolj
Vassiliev (Mosca) e al Teatro Studio di Iñaki Aierra (Actor ‘Studio)
Madrid. Ha lavorato in teatro, cinema e radio collaborando con vari
registi tra cui: L.Melchionna, G. Sepe, L. Damiani, A. Camilleri, L.
Ronconi.
È stata titolare della cattedra di recitazione cinematografica per 4 anni
all’Istituto del Cinema di Madrid (Nic), ed è trainer di attori.

Hello!

The TerraTec MIDI HUBBLE USB device provides two MIDI IN and OUT ports,
but it seems to lack the correct interface class value (see attached
output of lsusb -v). I thought this could be fixed by adding the
following to sound/usb/usbquirks.h:

modules.usbmap got updated correctly, but I don’t know who reads them
at what time.

The strangest thing is that it worked on one day, even though I had not
done anything special yet.

BTW: I thought about posting this in the linux-sound mailing list, but
it seems to be dead. Posts are almost never answered, including a post
I made about a solution to another sound problem
(http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-sound&m=113261865703607&w=2).
(Since then, a few people who have the same problem have contacted me;
all of them would like the fix to be integrated into the kernel.)

Greg KH and Paul Jackson have both written scripts for this.
And there may be one in the quilt package.

I would NAK such a patch.

Andrew Morton described a way to do it, some method using x cut buffers,
IIRC.

The best thing to do is use a custom script, though.  Other mailers can
be annoying as well, with regards to the References header, for example.
  And pine is awful, encoding plain text as base64.

For a maintainer who patch bombs LKML constantly a custom script is best
but for the casual contributor their mailer should just work.

The default Gnome and KDE mail clients work OK so why don’t we just try
to get Thunderbird fixed or at least warn about it?  Casual contributors
are very likely to read SubmittingPatches.

I’m not trying to find the one true solution I’d just like to end the
constant low grade noise (and higher bug fix latency!) of “Please
resend, your patch is linewrapped” every few days.

The bug reports don’t mention which USB host controller driver was being
used.

 With ohci-hcd, bandwidth enforcement works okay.

 With ehci-hcd, there are problems involved with scheduling
 periodic transfers to a full-speed device connected through
 a high-speed hub.  These problems are slowly being fixed.

 With uhci-hcd, bandwidth enforcement has never worked.  New
 changes to the driver (accepted just a few days ago) will
 permit this to be fixed eventually.  It might take a few months
 (plus the time required for the changes to be added to the
 official distribution kernel).

on Christmas day, and here’s the perfect distraction. Test 2.6.15-rc7. All
the stores will be closed, and there’s really nothing better to do in
between meals.

A number of mostly one-liners. The biggest ones are probably some s390
qeth updates and some ipv6 fixes, the rest is just a number of small
fixes. The shortlog gives a pretty good picture of what’s going on. I
suspect the forcedeth fix is the one most likely to affect any reasonable
number of people, although the more relaxed usb suspend probably makes
a big difference.

Please do give it a try, and if you have any issues/regressions, send out
a note (even if you sent one earlier) so that we don’t forget about it.

and thus the basic sound initialization should probably use

 “subsys_initcall()” instead. Now, if it’s built as a module,

 that “subsys_initcall()” ends up doing exactly the

same thing as a plain “module_init()”,

and you’ll never see any difference.

But when it’s built into the kernel, i

t means that it gets initialized with

the other subsystems. Now, one thing

to look out for is that if your

 “core sound initialization” depends on PCI

probing having completed (ie it’s not a pure subsystem

with no dependencies on anything else),

the common hack for that is to just use

the “fs_initicall()” instead. But a truly

independent subsystem (which sound hopefully is)

should just use subsys_initcall(), and then,

if that subsystem internally

has more complex ordering, just use the link

order in the

Makefiles to indicate that.

Forcing (or even just encouraging) people to

 use loadable modules is just horrible.

 I personally run a kernel with no modules at all:

 it makes for a simpler bootup, and in some situations

(embedded) it has both security and size advantages.

So the fix is certainly _usable_ (and simple, and guaranteed to not break anything,

 which is why it’s fine 2.6.15 material), but I certainly agree that a much better

Uso di Parted da Ramdisk
 GNU Parted e’ un utile programma open-source per la creazione
 e la manipolazione di partizioni su disco fisso, puo’ essere
 utilizzato come tool a costo zero per il ridimensionamento di
 eventuali partizioni presenti sul disco prima di iniziare una
 installazione Linux; questo e’ molto importante per tutti
quegli utenti che si avvicinano a Linux dal (terribile) mondo
 windows e decidono di mantenere (almeno inizialmente) il vecchio
 sistema operativo. La procedura da seguire richiede pero’
alcune conoscenze di base di Linux (o altro Unix) ed e’ per questo
 che, nel corso, e’ stata trattata (molto superficialmente)
nelle ultime ore di lezione. 

In questa breve nota voglio presentare una sorta di mini-HOWTO
 per effettuare il resizing di una ipotetica partizione windows
 al fine di “far posto” a Linux usando Parted; essendo stato il
corso basato su Slackware Linux, ipotizzero’ che si disponga del
 cdrom di installazione di tale distribuzione.

Nota #1: Esistono alcuni tool che permettono di effettuare
il resizing di partizioni esistenti direttamente da windows,
 alcuni di essi, come Partition Magick, sono a volte incluse
nelle versioni commerciali di alcune distribuzioni Linux
 (ad esempio Mandrake), tuttavia si tratta di software commerciale e che,
 in quanto tale, necessita delle opportune licenze e dunque dell’acquisto
da parte dell’utente. Parted invece e’ disponibile in maniera del tutto
gratuita presso il sito GNU: http://www.gnu.org/software/parted.

Nota #2: L’operazione di resizing e’ pericolosa, esiste la probabilita’
 che i dati possano venire corrotti (puo’ saltare la luce durante
 l’operazione ad esempio…) percui e’ buona norma effettuare un
backup di tutti i dati importanti eventualmente presenti
sulla partizione da ridimensionare.

Come dicevo serve a scegliere quale OS far partire,
 può essere modificato in modo intuitivo in
Avvio/Impostazioni/Centro di Controllo/Amministratore di sistema/Gestore avvio.
Se volete usare un masterizzatore ATAPI dovrete mettere in testa la riga
append=”hdd=ide-scsi”
dove hdd è il masterizzatore, in questo caso è sul secondario slave,
 se fosse un primario slave sarebbe hdb.
Fate attenzione che in questo modo cambia l’indirizzo del masterizzatore,
 che diventa nel mio caso /dev/sr0
e che quindi occorre modificare l’impostazione di alcuni programmi,
 ad es il lettore cd di KDE cerca il dispositivo in un indirizzo errato.

3.1. Partizionare il disco fisso
3.1.1. L’esigenza minimale di Slackware è avere due partizioni,
 una per l’installazione del programma e una per il file di swap
(utile a reperire memoria nel caso sia insufficiente quella fornita dalla ram del computer);
 sarà questo il caso che considereremo. Naturalmente questa configurazione può essere
 modificata a seconda delle esigenze di ciascuno.
 Ad esempio, la cartella /home di ciascun utente può essere creata in una partizione diversa.
 Nel caso si debba reinstallare il programma, ciò consente di non perdere impostazioni e dati.
 È anche possibile usare un secondo disco fisso per archiviare i dati:
 in questo ambito esiste la massima elasticità e nessuna regola fissa.
Non dimentichiamo che tutte le unità, siano esse dischi o partizioni,

 sono viste da Linux come dei file;

 ciò rende molto semplice costruire una serie di partizioni differenti in più dischi fissi.
Partiamo da due ipotesi:
1) un disco fisso che contiene già Windows (poiché nella maggior parte dei casi
lo abbiamo già come sistema operativo o avendolo trovato preinstallato nel computer
o avendolo installato noi);
2) un disco fisso nuovo.

3.1.2. Nel primo caso è necessario creare spazio per Slackware.
Innanzitutto bisogna deframmentare il disco fisso
 (il problema della frammentazione è ben noto agli utenti di Windows,
 mentre non tocca quelli di Linux)
e quindi creare le partizioni per Slackware.
Anche qui ci si presentano svariate alternative.
Operiamo con uno strumento di gestione delle partizioni per Windows
come Partition Magic® della PowerQuest,
oppure con uno strumento opensource come Parted

Ecco i passi da seguire per una corretta ricompilazione del Kernel

cd /usr/src/linux
make xconfig
Apparirà il menu grafico di configurazione delle opzioni del Kernel.
Impostare le opzioni desiderate, salvare e chiudere il programma.
make dep
Per distinguere il nuovo kernel dal precedente conviene modificare
il valore della relativa variabile nelle prime righe file /usr/src/linux/Makefile.
Eseguire i seguenti comandi nell’ordine:
make bzImage
make modules
make modules_install
Copiare il file /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage in /boot/my_vmlinuz,
eliminare il collegamento simbolico /boot/vmlinuz e ricrearlo
/boot/vmlinuz -> /boot/my_vmlinuz.
Eseguire il programma lilo da linea di comando.

Upgrade del Kernel:
copiare il vecchio /usr/src/linux/.config nella cartella contenente
i sorgenti del nuovo kernel.
make oldconfig
make xconfig
Ricompilare come detto al punto precente.
